That’s right, friends, it’s that time of year again. Time to see if all those early morning press checks and that late-night pizza by computer glow have paid off. Time to stock the 2009 shelf of the Chicago Design Archive with the best work the Chi has to offer. Archive09 picks the most BA design in Chicago and archives it for decades to come. Can your work cozy up with the likes of Paul Rand or our very own Rick Valicenti? We’d love to see!
This call goes out to all designers rockin’ any area of the field. Chicago-area based design professionals, agencies, corporate in-house art departments and students are eligible and invited to participate in making their mark on Chicago’s design history. FYI, the Archive is Chicago-area exclusive – you must be located in Chicago or the ‘burbs to qualify. (Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.) And friends, the design must be fresh in more ways than one . . . accepting pieces from January 2008 to July 2009 only – no stale work!
Send samples of your best designs to the Archive09 selection committee by July 31, 2009! B l8t and it will cost you. B 2 l8t & you are SOL. To enter your work, download an entry form and instructions. The initial deadline is July 31, 2009 at 8:00 pm. The extended deadline is Friday, August 7, 2009 at 8:00 pm. All materials submitted by this deadline must be accompanied by a late fee. We will accept NO submissions after Friday, August 7, 2009 at 8:00 pm.
BTW, judging this year’s Archive is a rockstar fab five:

Yang Kim // peopledesign.com
Scott Thares // wink-mpls.com
Rick Valicenti // 3st.com
Armin Vit // underconsideration.com
And be sure to go to the Judges Meet & Greet on August 27, 2009. You’ll have the chance to get upclose and personal to these design icons . . . but no touching. Seriously.
And if that isn’t reason enough, on Thursday, October 29, 2009, the STA is hosting a gala and honoring all the Archive09 winners. So brush up your acceptance speech and enter ASAP!
